Shannon Corgan is an artist from Southern Illinois who has been living and working in Durham, North Carolina since 2024. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in painting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2023.
She creates paintings and drawings depicting figurative scenes that tackle the profound intensity and subjectivity found in moments of heartbreak, laughter, fear, and isolation. Corgan aims to create images that serve as jumping-off points for raw conversation about the important moments in our lives that may otherwise be nearly impossible to put into words.
Corgan’s first solo show, On Screen, exhibited at the Edwardsville Art Center in July of 2023. Her work has been featured in various juried exhibitions, including Annual Juried Art and Design Student Exhibitions at SIUE and the Wood River Small Works exhibition at The Wood River City Museum. She received Best of Show at the Small Works Exhibition at the Miller Art Creative Gallery in Saint Louis, MO in 2021. Her work has also been shown in the Annual Student Art and Design exhibitions at Southwestern Illinois College Schmidt Art Center and the juried group show, En Plein Air at the In Art Gallery in Edwardsville, IL.
